Stargate SG-1 is a television series that aired from July 27, 1997 to June 22, 2007 created by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner. It is the first series in the Stargate franchise and ran for 10 seasons.

Overview

Stargate SG-1 follows on a year after the movie Stargate having Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson reunited and the discovery that there are thousands of Stargates across the galaxy. The show follows the exploits of the flagship team SG-1 and those of the people of Stargate Command as they battle with the Goa'uld and the System Lords who subjugate a massive portion of the Milky Way. In the final two seasons a new enemy, the ascended Ori, are introduced who seek to gain control over the galaxy following the defeat of the Goa'uld and sap energy from their new human followers.

Production

The show was produced by MGM Television, Double Secret Productions (seasons 1–8), Gekko Film Corp. (seasons 1–8), Sony Pictures Television (season 9), Showtime (seasons 1–5), and Sci-Fi Originals (2002–2007). It originally aired on the Showtime Network from season 1 to season 5 before moving to the Syfy network for season 6 to season 10.
