Anubis is a Ascended being.

Biography

He was originally a Goa'uld and part of the System Lords but in 1000 he was banished because his crimes were unspeakable, even to the Goa'uld. Several System Lords attempted to have him killed and believed they had succeeded. (SG1: "Last Stand") He discovered some information on ascension and traveled to Kheb where he somehow tricked Oma Desala into ascending him. After realizing what she had done she tried to undo it but could not. The Others punished Oma by partially sending Anubis back and warned him that he could not use any knowledge or ability he wouldn't have otherwise gained while a Goa'uld. (SG1: "Threads") He created a force field to keep his form intact. (SG1: "Full Circle") He regained power in 2001, gaining Jaffa from Sokar, Cronus and Olokun. (SG1: "Summit") He recruited Tanith who he gave a ship with shields that resisted Tollan Ion cannons, then had Tanith get them to built Phase shifting weapons in order to destroy Earth. (SG1: "Between Two Fires") He began to attack other System Lords sending his ships to attack but never sending in ground forces. He recruited Zipacna and sent him to obtain the services of Osiris to petition the System Lords for Anubis to regain the rank of System Lord. He interrogated a Tok'ra spy and learned of the base on Revanna and the Symbiote poison they were developing there, he sent Zipacna to destroy the Tok'ra and recover the poison. (SG1: "Summit")

The System Lords voted six to one, with Yu voting no, for Anubis to become a System Lord again. (SG1: "Last Stand") Anubis equipped Osiris with ships that had advanced weapons and shields and after Osiris destroyed an Asgard ship and captured Thor, Anubis came to interrogate him. He told Thor that a mind probe would be implanted into his brain and they would simply download his memories. Thor said that the Goa'uld had no such technology and Anubis told him that many things have changed now that he has returned. When Thor was rescued and three more Asgard ships arrived, Anubis left rather than fight them. (SG1: "Revelations") Thor's consciousness remained aboard the ship, taking over systems as they tried to get rid of him. Eventually Anubis abandoned the ship. (SG1: "Descent") Anubis found an Ancient weapon and used it to attack Earth's Stargate. He projected a hologram to Stargate Command, using Asgard knowledge recovered from Thor, telling them that they were doomed. (SG1: "Redemption, Part 1") Anubis was alerted that Khonsu, one of his underlings was a Tok'ra and had been killed by his First Prime Herak who had also captured SG-1. (SG1: "The Other Guys")

Anubis sent an Ashrak to hunt down Tok'ra and they reported the location of a Tok'ra base in the Risa System, and he sent his forces to attack. (SG1: "Allegiance") All of the System Lords began allying with Anubis, except for Yu. Anubis sent Ba'al to defeat Yu but he lost the battle and Yu escaped and Anubis was very displeased. (SG1: "Prophecy") Anubis appointed Herak as his First Prime. He began searching for the Eyes of the Goa'uld, finding all but the Eye of Ra which he came to Abydos to find. His forces fought the Abydonians and SG-1 who had recovered the Eye. Daniel Jackson, who was ascended, confronted Anubis and told him that he wouldn't attack Abydos and Anubis revealed to him that he was partially ascended. When Yu rallied the System Lords to fight against Anubis, he was unconcerned by their show of force. Jackson made a deal with him to give him the Eye in exchange for leaving Abydos alone and letting SG-1 leave. He agreed but when he got the Eye he went to attack Abydos and Jackson started to attack him but was stopped by Oma Desala and taken away. When Herak was in awe of Jackson being stopped and assumed it was Anubis, he said that he didn't do it but what he was about to do was his doing. Anubis fired on Abydos, destroying it and killing the Abydonians. (SG1: "Full Circle")

With his new weapon he began easily conquering the other System Lords. He received intelligence about a cache of advanced weapons on Vis Uban and took his mothership there to find it. After learning that there was a Tau'ri base on the planet and there were no advanced weapons, he recalled his troops and planned to fire on the planet. When the weapons power core overloaded and was destroyed, Anubis was angered but his Jaffa had captured Jonas Quinn aboard. Anubis put a mind probe into his head and downloaded his memories. (SG1: "Fallen") Learning about Naquadria he went to Langara and took the Naquadria which he set a Goa'uld scientist to work on using it to power the weapon. After the Naquadria overloaded, exploded and damaged the ship, he had Herak kill the scientist. When Ba'al arrived with a fleet of System Lord ships, they began firing on Anubis' ship, which was destroyed, but Anubis escaped the destruction. (SG1: "Homecoming")

Using knowledge he gained from Jonas, Anubis created the Kull Warriors and sent them out to kill minor Goa'uld so that he could absorb their forces into his own. (SG1: "Evolution, Part 1") He was on Tartarus and had Thoth attend to a matter before he addressed his army of Kull Warriors. (SG1: "Evolution, Part 2") Anubis began conquering the System Lords with the Kull Warriors. Anubis learned that the Tau'ri were building a weapon to stop the Kull so he attacked the Alpha Site where the weapon was being made. He engaged in battle with Olokun's forces and beat him. (SG1: "Death Knell") Anubis recreated his pre-ascension DNA and used it to create a human clone called Khalek that he either intended to use a host or as part of a plan to replace the Kull Warriors. Khalek was evolved artificially and developed advanced abilities. (SG1: "Prototype")

Anubis sent a force to secure an Ancient Repository of Knowledge and when they failed and it was destroyed by SG-1, he had the Jaffa he sent executed. Wanting to stop Earth from obtaining advanced weapons he gathered a fleet and went to attack. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 1") Sending an advanced fleet, they were not met with resistance so he used a communication hologram to speak with President Henry Hayes who refused to bow before him. He moved his full fleet in and sent a battle group after a Tel'tak that arrived at Earth. As the Prometheus came at the fleet, weapons were fired from the surface and began destroying his fleet, killing him. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 2")

With his shield destroyed, he inhabited debris until he made it aboard the International Space Station and into Anatole Constantinov before ending up in Colonel Alexi Vaselov in his attempt to get to the Stargate. Inhabiting people made them ill and he had to leave Vaselov for Jackson when at the SGC. After being stopped from going through the Stargate, he shot two people before being taken down. Anubis left him for Lt. Evans and then entered Airman Malcolm McCaffrey. When the SGC was locked down he took control of Samantha Carter to override the system but was stopped again so he took control of Jack O'Neill and activated the SGC's self destruct before trying to escape again. Vaselov forced Anubis to take him instead of O'Neill and he went through the Stargate but his program had been overridden and he was instead sent to KS7-535 where Vaselov's body almost instantly froze to death. (SG1: "Lockdown")

He managed to escape and went to Delmak where he periodically took new hosts. He had Ba'al fight the Replicators instead of protecting territory hoping to attract the rebel Jaffa together so he could destroy them all at once. (SG1: "Reckoning, Part 1") He sent Ba'al to Dakara to destroy them. (SG1: "Reckoning, Part 2") When Ba'al helped Carter use the weapon to destroy the Replicators, Anubis spared his life butrevealed that there was a weapon on Dakara that he would use to destroy all life in the galaxy. Anubis began visiting the Astral Diner where Jackson was being offered ascension again by Oma Desala, posing as a human named Jim. He spoke to Jackson and helped him realize that Oma had helped Anubis ascend in the first place. He intended to retake Dakara and release information he and his forces were on Tartarus to attract them. Jackson eventually realized that Jim was Anubis and tried to stop him but could do nothing. Oma decided that he had done enough so she engaged him in eternal combat, forcing him to do nothing but fight her back. (SG1: "Threads")
