Control

A Control chair is an Ancient control technology.

Overview

The chairs allow someone to control Drone weapons and access holographic displays. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 2") The chair needs the user to have the Ancient Technology Activation gene to operate it. (SGA: "Rising") Aurora-class warships have control chairs that can be used to fire drones. (SGA: "Travelers")

History

One of these chairs was at Taonas and was used by Jack O'Neill to bring up the location of the Antarctic outpost on Earth. The one in the Antarctic outpost was used to launch Drones to destroy Anubis' fleet in orbit. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 2") Dr. Carson Beckett sat in the outpost chair when it was being studied and accidentally activated a drone and he had to concentrate hard to disable it. John Sheppard sat in the chair, which instantly activated. (SGA: "Rising") One of the chairs is located on Atlantis. (SGA: "The Gift") The chair on Atlantis was used to launch the last of the city's drones and later was used to connect to Puddle Jumpers to try to remotely pilot them. (SGA: "The Siege, Part 2") The Lord Protector used the control chair in the Tower as a throne, as well as using it to launch drones to destroy Wraith or revolting villagers. (SGA: "The Tower")

Sheppard used the chair on Atlantis to activate the Star Drive and fly off of Lantea. (SGA: "First Strike") He later used to chair to land Atlantis on M35-117. (SGA: "Lifeline") The Antarctic non-proliferation treaty meant that the Control chair in the Antarctic outpost had to be removed and it was relocated to Area 51. (SGA: "Enemy at the Gate")
