Protection

A Force field, also known as a Force shield, is an energy barrier which can stop physical projectiles and energy.

Overview

Force fields can let people pass through or can be either one-way or two-way. (SG1: "Revisions", "Evolution, Part 1", "The Road Not Taken") Some force fields can produce pain or numbness or stun targets that come into contact with them, but if power supplied to these shields is interrupted someone may be able to jump through. (SG1: "New Ground", "The Other Guys", "Homecoming") Certain force fields can scrub people and objects that pass through them. (SG1: "Revisions")

Ancient

Some Ancient force fields are keyed to only be deactivated in a certain way, such as when protecting a door by using a key. (SG1: "Camelot") Emergency force fields are put in place on the Mobile drilling platform in the event that part of it flooded. (SGA: "Submersion")

Goa'uld

Goa'uld Hand devices force field's deflection capability is directly proportional to the amount of kinetic energy being directed at it. (SG1: "The Nox") Certain force fields operate on a frequency oscillation principle meaning that something moving fast enough could pass through. (SG1: "Upgrades") Ha'taks have force fields in place for "windows" as no transparent material can withstand the velocity of hyperspace. (SG1: "Within the Serpent's Grasp") Ha'tak Death glider bays use force fields that allow the gliders to pass through so the entire bay doesn't need to be depressurized. (SG1: "Descent") Anubis created a force field to contain his essence and give him a physical form. (SG1: "Lockdown") The Kull armor allowed the wearer to pass through force fields. (SG1: "Evolution, Part 1", "Evolution, Part 2")

Tok'ra

The Tok'ra make use of Force field traps to capture targets. (SG1: "Evolution, Part 1")

Ori

The Ori used a powerful force field to help convert a planet into a Black hole for use with a Supergate. (SG1: "Beachhead")
