Prometheus, project designation X-303, was a Tau'ri spacecraft.

Overview

The Prometheus is partially constructed of a Trinium alloy. (SG1: "Prometheus") There are elevators on board to allow travel between decks. The ship has artificial gravity to allow the crew to function normally. (SG1: "Memento") The ship is approximately 10 times the size of an Al'kesh. (SG1: "Grace") There is a large access ramp on the underside of the ship. (SG1: "Prometheus Unbound") There are three landing struts, two at the back and one at the front, on the underside of the ship. (SG1: "Unnatural Selection", "Prometheus Unbound")

Locations

Bridge

The ship is manned from the bridge where the ships major functions are controlled. (SG1: "Prometheus", "Unnatural Selection") There are three chairs in the center of the room, the middle one is where the ships commander sits, to their left is the pilot and to their right is navigator. A chair sits at the front left of the room where weapons are controlled. A large star map sits in the back of the bridge. (SG1: "Memento")

Engine room

The engine rooms allows for maintenance to the computers and Hyperdrive. (SG1: "Prometheus")

Briefing room

The ship has a small room for briefings to take place. (SG1: "Memento")

Commissary

A large room with a table for crew to eat meals. (SG1: "Grace")

Brig

The ship has facilities for storing prisoners. (SG1: "Prometheus Unbound")

Ring room

A room with a Ring Transporter is located on level four. (SG1: "Prometheus Unbound")

Cargo bay

The ship has at least 3 cargo bays. (SG1: "Unnatural Selection")

Technology

Engines

Hyperdrive

The hyperdrive is powered by Naquadria. (SG1: "Prometheus") The hyperdrive had a reaction module with Naquadria cells that can be ejected if it overloads in order to save the ship. A buffer was installed to modulate extreme fluctuations in the energy coming from the Naquadria. (SG1: "Memento") The hyperdrive was replaced with one from an Al'kesh. (SG1: "Grace") The Asgard installed a new hyperdrive. (SG1: "Prometheus Unbound")

Sublight engines

The sublight engines can acceletate the ship to half the speed of light, 110,000 miles per second. (SG1: "Prometheus")

Thrusters

The ship has thrusters that slow it down for landings. (SG1: "Unnatural Selection")

Shields

The ship has shields of Asgard design. (SG1: "Memento", "Disclosure")

Inertial dampeners

Prometheus has inertial dampeners that counter the effects of G-forces. (SG1: "Prometheus")

Ring Transporter

The ship has a Ring Transporter that can take people from inside the ship to outside or to other Ring Transporters. (SG1: "Memento")

Escape pods

The ship has a number of escape pods aboard. (SG1: "Grace")

F-302s

Prometheus has a squadron of F-302s. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 2")

Weapons

Missiles

The ship has four missile bays. (SG1: "Memento")

Asgard weapons

The ship has Asgard-designed weapons installed. (SG1: "Disclosure", "Memento")

Railguns

The ship has a main Railgun. (SG1: "Beachhead")

History

To obtain the Stargate controlled by the Russians, the United States government paid them as well as giving them to the plans to the X-302 and the X-303. (SG1: "Redemption, Part 2") The ship was nearing completion in 2002 and when information about it got to Julia Donovan, a reporter, she approached Samantha Carter about it. To obtain her sources, they allowed her to have a tour of the ship. Her camera crew were actually Rogue NID and they took control of the ship. They threatened to detonate the hyperdrive unless Frank Simmons and a Goa'uld were released and brought to the ship. The Goa'uld fixed the hyperdrive and they took the ship away from Earth. The ships control was taken back but they didn't know where they were located due to the instability in the Naquadria powering the hyperdrive. Thor tracked the ship down and asked for the assistance in stopping the Replicators. (SG1: "Prometheus") Thor stated that the less advanced Prometheus wouldn't attract the Replicators so it was able to pass through Replicator controlled space. (SG1: "Unnatural Selection")

Colonel William Ronson was assigned as the ships commander and ran a number of training scenarios with his new crew. During their shakedown cruise, they passed through gravity waves from a collapsing star that overloaded and burned out the hyperdrives buffer and the ship dropped out of hyperspace. They briefly used the hyperdrive to reach Tagrea in order to use the Stargate to get repair supplies but the short jump caused an overload in the reactor module and it was jettisoned. The resulting explosion caused an electromagnetic pulse that disabled the ships shields and engines. The Tagreans launched two missiles, thinking they were under attack, but were talked down. Prometheus landed on Tagrea and after the Stargate was located, supplies were brought to repair the ship. (SG1: "Memento")

A hypedrive was taken from n Al'kesh and installed on the Prometheus but it needed time to cool down between jumps. The Prometheus began making its way back to Earth but during a stop it was attacked by a spaceship and it was directed to a nearby nebula to hide. Carter found herself alone on the ship after she was knocked out and the crew evacuated. The ship was stranded inside the nebula and the gases prevented the engines being used and they began to corrode the hull. Carter created a subspace bubble to shift the ship out of phase and get out of the nebula. The attacking spaceship was found and a deal was made to help it get out in exchange for the return of the crew. (SG1: "Grace") Major General George Hammond took command of the Prometheus and took it to Antarctica to protect a Tel'tak that SG-1 was aboard from Anubis' fleet. The ship was later directed to Anubis' Mothership but didn't engage as weapons were fired from the surface and destroyed the mothership. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 2") The Prometheus was in orbit of Earth when it detected an incoming ship and prepared for battle, luckily it was an Asgard ship. (SG1: "New Order, Part 2")

The Asgard installed a new hypedrive and Asgard Transporters aboard the Prometheus. The ship was sent to try to locate the cloaked Osiris' Al'kesh and once it was found they beamed the stolen Stargate and SG-1 off the ship before it fled. (SG1: "Endgame") The Prometheus was prepared for a mission to Atlantis. (SG1: "Gemini") The mission to Atlantis began but the ship was stolen by Vala Mal Doran who tried to sell it. It was attacked by the Goa'uld and sustained hull damage which meant it could not continue on its mission to Atlantis. (SG1: "Prometheus Unbound") The ship was attacked in orbit of Earth by Osiris' Al'kesh, controlled by Goa'uld, and the ship fought back and destroyed the Al'kesh. (SG1: "Full Alert") Some REXP-RG/BBT Railguns were designed for the Prometheus but instead were sent to Atlantis to help defend the city from the Wraith. (SGA: "The Siege, Part 2")

The Prometheus scanned the area underneath Glastonbury Abbey and found the Glastonbury Cavern. (SG1: "Avalon, Part 1") The ship went to P4C-452 where it picked up SG-1 and took them to Kallana. It later opened fire on the force field beachhead being formed on the planet. It was damaged when Supergate components came through the Stargate and one collided with the ship's shields. (SG1: "Beachhead") The ship confronted a Ha'tak hiding behind the moon sent to infiltrate Earth and find Ba'al. The ship later beamed the Halcyon Tower out of Seattle and into space so it could explode safely. (SG1: "Ex Deus Machina") The ship scanned P9G-844 and surrounding moons and planet for Cameron Mitchell but found nothing. (SG1: "Babylon")

SG-1 and an alternate SG-1 took the Prometheus to close a subspace rupture and stop more alternate SG-1's from coming through and the alternate SG-1 took control of the ship, intending to take it to Atlantis and beam the Zero Point Module. The ship was taken back by SG-1. (SG1: "Ripple Effect") The ship was taken to Tegalus to destroy an Ori Satellite weapon but the satellite was protected by a shield. It fired on the Prometheus and cut right through the ship. A second shot further disabled the ship and the crew evacuated. A third shot destroyed the ship and killed some of the crew. (SG1: "Ethon")
