Ship propellent

A Sublight engine is a propulsion system that moves a ship at less than the Speed of Light.

Overview

Ancient

The Aurora-class warships have sublight engines that can be modified to reach near light speed. (SGA: "The Return, Part 1")

Goa'uld

Goa'uld sublight engines can propel a ship across a star system in a short amount of time. (SG1: "Exodus", "Enemies") Goa'uld ships use sublight engines to slow down after exiting hyperspace. (SG1: "Enemies")

Tau'ri

The sublight engines on the Prometheus could accelerate to half the speed of light, 110,000 miles per second. (SG1: "Prometheus") Certain gases will cause sublight engines to be unable to be activated. (SG1: "Grace") Their sublight engines cannot be controlled too specifically and their slowest speeds will kill someone if they hit the ship. (SG1: "Flesh and Blood")
