Earth

The Tau'ri are a race of Humans from Earth.

Overview

Some Tau'ri have the Ancient Technology Activation gene. (SGA: "Rising")

History

The Tau'ri met the Lanteans that returned from the Pegasus galaxy and heard the story of Atlantis. Some Lanteans interbred with the Tau'ri. (SGA: "Rising") They were those humans who remained on Earth as opposed to others who were taken to other worlds. (SG1: "Children of the Gods") At some point the Tau'ri rebelled against Ra and forced the Goa'uld to leave Earth. (Stargate) The Asgard visited Earth in the past and found the Tau'ri to have great potential. (SG1: "The Fifth Race") The Tau'ri began exploring other worlds through the Stargate in 1997. The Goa'uld Apophis launched an attack against Earth but his ships were destroyed in orbit before they could begin the attack. (SG1: "Within the Serpent's Grasp", "The Serpent's Lair") The Asgard negotiated with the System Lords to include Earth in the Protected Planets Treaty, making Earth safe from attack but not protecting any Tau'ri found offworld. (SG1: "Fair Game") The Tau'ri officially entered into an alliance with the Tok'ra by signing the Tau'ri-Tok'ra Treaty. (SG1: "Divide and Conquer")

Some of the Tau'ri came under attack from Anubis when he brought a fleet into orbit, targeting the Nimitz battlegroup and taking out power grids and communications systems to test if they had Ancient weapons. (SG1: "Lost City, Part 2") International cooperation concerning the Stargate began with the Atlantis expedition being sent to Atlantis. (SGA: "Rising") The PRIOR2 virus began spreading on Earth and killed over 3,000 people before it was stopped. (SG1: "The Fourth Horseman, Part 1", "The Fourth Horseman, Part 2")

Alternate Timelines

  • In an alternate timeline, the Tau'ri joined the Aschen Confederation and helped to defeat the Goa'uld. The Aschen began sterilizing most of the Tau'ri in order to take over Earth. (SG1: "2010")
