"Tretonin makes our immune systems impervious to any ailment."
- Dollen - Cure

Tretonin is an immunity drug.

The drug is made from symbiotes. It causes the immune system to become suppressed and protects the user from all disease. The original formula is required for the user to keep using or they died. (SG1: "Cure") The modified Tretonin can be used to replace a symbiote in a Jaffa, by acting as their immune system. (SG1: "The Changeling") A Jaffa can last a day or so without a does of Tretonin before they begin to fall ill but will recover in less than a day after a dose. Larger doses can be used to prevent infection while recovering. (SG1: "Orpheus") Different Jaffa require different doses for it to be effective. (SG1: "Birthright")

The Pangarans began experimenting on Egeria's offspring in 1952 and by 1972 had developed Tretonin. Egeria began sabotaging her young to stop the Pangarans but they started using the drug while working on refining it. By 2002 only 20% of Pangarans were using Tretonin. When Egeria was found to be dying, the Tok'ra worked on finding an antidote to Tretonin's effects but it wasn't until Egeria's identity was discovered and she took a host that she revealed how to make an antidote to help the Pangarans. (SG1: "Cure") The Tok'ra modified Tretonin to work as a Jaffa's immune system and it was given to Teal'c and Bra'tac. (SG1: "The Changeling") After Bra'tac was captured on Erebus he rationed his Tretonin but eventually ran out and fell ill. A dose of the drug allowed him to regain his strength. (SG1: "Orpheus") Four female Jaffa from the Hak'tyl resistance came to the SGC to go on Tretonin and one of them, Mala, had to have her symbiote put back in but she died anyway. Nesa and her sister Neith went on it as well, with Nesa being the first Jaffa to not receive a symbiote. (SG1: "Birthright") In 2005 several thousand Jaffa were using Tretonin with no ill effects. The Sodan Volnek was put on Tretonin after his symbiote was injured and couldn't be healed. (SG1: "Babylon") Haikon was put on Tretonin after his symbiote was killed. (SG1: "Arthur's Mantle")
